Batman: The Real Thinking Bat
The Least Powerful yet the Most Important Member of the Justice League. But why?
Read it till the end and I will convince you how thinking is a real superpower and you possess superhuman capabilities!
If you know a little about the Justice League and the superheroes in their team, you probably know that Batman is the least powerful member of the league. Technically speaking Batman has no superpower, none at all. No cool ring that can create indestructible weapons out from the wearer’s imagination and willpower, as in the case of Green Lantern. No lasso of truth or super-strong bullets that deflect bullets. No superhuman strength or heat vision like Superman, yet you might be surprised to know that Batman once defeated the ultra-powerful superman and almost killed him. We will talk about that later in the blog but first, let’s talk about how Batman is different from Ironman. There are huge differences between them even when both of them are normal humans turned into superheroes with the help of technology.
Batman Vs Ironman
Now some of you might compare Batman with Ironman. Both of them are highly intelligent men who use cool gadgets to defeat their powerful opponents. While I agree that Ironman with his supercool suit and AI assistant is more capable and powerful. But Ironman cannot be used here to prove my point, because his hi-tech suit makes him so powerful that it leaves no room for him to use tactical thinking. The guy is technically an artificial version of Superman. On the other Batman does use a lot of gadgets to his aide but he is not dependent on them. He engages in hand to hand combats and uses his artillery in very smart ways.
Batman’s Role in Justice League
Batman is the mastermind of all the plans for every mission the Justice League takes on. He is the thinking end of the league. This is not portrayed very accurately in the 2017 Justice League movie, but if you watch some of the animated DC movies you will realize it soon. Batman was, in fact, depicted as the world’s greatest detective in a lot of early comics. Batman’s character as a detective is not highlighted in any of the live-action movies, except in BvS for once, but in almost all the animated he is the smartest guy in the room, always.
He knows how the league can kill any super-villain, who is a thousand times more powerful than the whole Justice League. And he also knows how to kill all the other members of the Justice League.
Batman considers every possibility, even the one where he thinks that other members of the League might become a threat to the world. So, as a part of his contingency plan, Batman has strategized ways to kill his superhero colleagues. His strategies were very well depicted in the 2012 animated movie Justice League Doom which was loosely based on the JLA: Tower of Babel comic series.
Conclusion
From all the things I discussed above, it is quite apparent that Batman, even being devoid of any physical superpower is more superior than many of the Justice League members. His biggest superpower is his intelligence. With his tactical thinking, he almost killed Superman in the 2016 live-action movie Batman Vs Superman.
Although I don’t deny the fact that Batman is a fictional character and most of his feats would not have been possible if the DC universe was real. Yet even though he has a fictional existence, his stories have some ground and they still feel real. If any of the mainstream superhero, today, is inspiring in its true sense, it’s the dark knight.
